I love this analogy! Aren't our daily activities and our outings and adventures like our performances? Functional fitness classes are amazing!! Come all the time!! Put the fitness sessions on your calendar and commit that time to yourself. Get stronger, healthier, and more capable!!

Snapping your fingers, making a fist, opening a jar, holding your fork, tying your shoes, going up and down the steps, standing long enough to prepare a meal, picking up something you've dropped, reaching behind the chair for something that fell, taking a bath, walking your dog, washing your whole body in the shower, writing, getting onto the floor, getting up from the floor.
Gradually you lose the ability to do what used to be the simplest thing. You aren't even aware until you can't do it anymore. You don't need to settle for that! You can get and keep those skills!! This can be life changing!! Fear of not being able to "do it" causes one to stop trying. Maybe it's a fear of falling or being stuck.
Recently a client celebrated with me that she was able to get out of her kayak all by herself! Kayaking is one of her very favorite things to do. She didn't stop kayaking, but as she worked her muscles and changed her nutrition, she gained the strength and ability to get out of her kayak all by herself! Speaking of kayaking, yesterday evening was a perfect day for such an adventure! Check out my Facebook page for pictures. The Metro Parks have adventures all the time. I was recently introduced to them (thank you Laurie!!) and yesterday was my first one with them. So much fun! Don't miss out on the fun due to fear!! Come!! Exercise!! Learn!! We will use a set of hand weights and a body bar. These fun functional fitness classes are designed to move you through your range of motion using all muscle groups - just as you would in real life doing your activities. All of the exercises can be modified or enhanced based on your fitness level.

We are using no equipment today! :) When you need to sit for the majority of your day (your job, post surgery, riding in a car), you can still exercise! In a seated position, you may find yourself slumping, taking shallow breaths, having increasing head, neck, and shoulder pain, have swollen legs and feet, and feeling sluggish. It may lead to poor food choices and poor sleep.
Today and tomorrow we will use weights and bands to exercise mostly in a seated position. No matter what, you want to have good posture, keep your blood flowing, and have good core strength. Come in person or Zoom in!! You have the privilege and responsibility to care for your wellness so you won't need someone to care for your sickness. Make choices that support your self care! Exercise in some form every single day! Join these fitness sessions! Work your whole body in functional ways while knowing you are doing great things for future you! Eat nutrient dense foods. Get quality sleep each night. Reduce stress! Hang out with people who lift you up. Drink plenty of water.
It is so easy to make excuses and to put off a healthier way of living. Know that you are making choices that will have an impact as time goes on. |
