What keeps you coming to fitness sessions?
How did you start coming? How do you get through your day? Short term goals happen and then what? Your answer may be unique to you. You are driven by something inside of you. It may happen very gradually, and it may not be there at first. As you go through life you are changing and growing all the time. How? Come as you are; learn as you go. Enrich your life. Adding exercise to your schedule will help provide you with the promise of a healthier lifestyle. Moderate amounts of physical activity provide substantial health benefits for all adults. This is defined as 150 minutes per week of moderate intensity activity such as walking, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week such as jogging or vigorous sports. Come to the Hilliard Community Center each Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. Your first class is FREE!! (see times below) You'll see that because I emphasize form and function that my fitness sessions are for everyone no matter what fitness level! Clients who are most attracted to this type of training are those about 40 years and older. Personal coaching is available at your convenience! Contact me to schedule your time. It is true that if you don't use your muscles, you will lose the ability. Atrophy (shrinking) occurs even at the cellular level. Have you noticed your reach isn't as long as it was or your gait has gotten shorter?
You use repetitive motions every day, so your muscles have created muscle memory. You are able to perform day to day tasks generally well, but may be bypassing the smaller muscles. If you try a new task or mix things up a bit, your muscles may get sore. Regular exercise will help those forgotten muscles work again by delivering nutrients by way of blood to the cells. Regular strengthening and stretching as your body allows will wake your muscles up and alleviate pain, fatigue, and stiffness. It's never too late to begin! Come to class. Be encouraged. Our focus this week is total body strength and mobility with an emphasis on glutes and core. Use various equipment to work muscles surrounding your joints. Fran wanted to change out of her Vacation Bible School t-shirt, so she hopped into the back of her CRV and changed clothes. That's when it started to pour down rain, so she contemplated how she was going to get into her driver's seat. The thought didn't occur to her that she couldn't, so she climbed over the seats into the driver's seat! :) Fran is 70 years young. Fran intentionally exercises daily and is very active in all areas of her life. She enjoys my classes, yoga, and line dancing. She takes walks with her husband and plays with their grandchildren. Fran will remain capable and independent, strong and flexible. (Story used with permission.) In our Matter of Balance classes, we teach about how convincing our mind is. We role play and brainstorm positive thoughts that can overcome our negative thoughts. Negative thinking can really inhibit our actions. Today you may have limits, but I want to encourage you to always strive to get stronger and develop healthier thoughts and habits. Are there things you'd like to improve? New goals?
